Nope. They don't have a pea comb, it is just the angle of the photo. These have been kept in the same family for over 50 years passed on from generation to generation. Also been separated from the other fowl. These 7 birds are the only to ever leave the family. And before you think I was lied to, the Amish aren't in the habit of lying and they were a gift.

There really is no such thing as pure anymore in these birds...Just like the dogs!
I would say that you just have some type of strain of Whitehackle which has some pea comb blood(Kelso, Hatch, Roundhead, ect) that was used for a outcross because those roosters you posted are in fact pea comb, but your hens apear to be some what straight combed.
Now if you look at the photos that Blackdogga posted above...well the first 2 are what you would call straight combed birds.
I would have to agree with Malo though, as most Whitehackles I have seen, except for the crossed ones were straight combed...And that is coming from over 30 years experience myself!

I would think ford is correct ;D I've seen those Amish birds in Pennsylvania before with that particular coloration,My Grey's and Butcher/Roundheads are American, but the rest of my birds are imported from Mexico and P.R. That white stag is similar to what the Indians in Puerto Rico and Costa Rica and Brazil show with, except their's are ALL white with a tan coloring on the wings and body, they are very specific with this. That Grey hen up top is off a green legged hatch but I have Red Roosters and Hens from P.R. with Blue Feet. That American Butcher/Roundhead I'm holding, has pearl feet and a Str8 comb as Ford says.with chickens I've learned to keep them crossed not pure at all.The only "Pure" bird is the Red Jungle Fowl. All my imported birds have pea combs, even my hens have spurs.I have not found an America strain rough enuff to cross into my imported birds yet

well blackdogga, it all depends what you call rough are you using natural spurs , gaffs , short or long nife every country has it's preffered weapon in puerto rico as in spain they use natural spurs and what they call abilitada (spurs that have been cured)also steel spurs defilo or redonda.I have had spanish, asil strains calcuta ,raja, boles malay, brazilian but the american gamefowl is what I like and if you ever want to meet some rough shuffling cocks that can cut you down in the blink of eye I invite here to calif to meet some of the toughes competion you will ever meet in the 1" nife .America ! dogs ,gamefowl, racehorses we produce some of best in the world . peace out!

Natural spur ;D But California is much, much too far.Don't get me wrong I like my American cocks, but I just prefer the Puerto Rican strain I have acquired.Very fast birds, very smart and very gentle to handle. And the gentleman that cultivated the strain is 72 and still very active in Puerto Rico on the weekends......In America matching cock's is illegal Don't slip on the eastern European's bulldog's,matching dogs is illegal here,it's perfectly legal there,so in the future they'll be catching up in that area too.Humaniacs are ruining game American strains of animals, hell you gotta have a $4million dollar racetrack to protect the horses from injury now.Used to be if you had an American car, horse, dog, chicken etc.you were kicking butt, now the worlds catching up,we have way too many laws brother, and that Lack of freedom is allowing the world to catch up to us. IMO

I agree with you europe is catching up especialy in russia, balkans, but the laws are also changing there too . I have a good friend who raises over 2000 birds a year in ok. he has some of the best blood in the world and his facility is an a-1 set-up but back to the dogs as this site is set up for . Oh by the way the spanish fowl are some of the most beautiful. the brown & whites are called canelos , blues are called ceniezos and game cocks are pound per pound the gamess gladiators to walk the earth.

I have beautiful brown and white canelos with blue feet and the ceniezos are Black bodied with blue feathering,i have a young Ceniezos cross stag with some purple in his feathers and blue feet as well. The indians in P.R. use a white stag with tan feathers I forget the name and the Bolo chickens I believe they are called, they are a red fowl that the tail feathers are usually cropped off of.I admire these spanish fowl really for their deep, deep, gameness, although in cocking gameness wont win for you everytime,I'm a bulldog man at heart and believe gameness is the core of ALL gladiators.

We call him Kellogg for short though. The one my boy is holding is some Family bred stuff from an old guy in Amite,La. that;s had 'em in his family since the turn of the century. That White Mack is an AMAZINGLY strong cock. I appreciate the Complements,we try very hard to have our birds healthy and well-maintained.That white Cock has some CRAZY red eyes!were a little bit afraid of him! LOL! we give him his space though.
